Compulsory Reading (30mins)

Reading (30mins)

At least 30 minutes of reading every day. This can be through books you have borrowed from the library or books from home. This should be an enjoyable experience and never a chore. Build it into your routine and discuss the books with your family. This could include your thoughts and predictions and what you enjoy about the book.

Students should log their reading on Boom Reader daily (5 logs per week). You will earn gems for every log you make. You must make a comment on your reading using one of our reading prompts provided below. Here is an example of a Year 6 student Boom Reader comment:

Example of Year 6 student Boom Reader comment:

I really enjoyed reading chapter 5 of Holes. Prediction: I predict that Stanley and Zero will find something important buried in the desert.

Evidence: I think this because in the text it says that the Warden is making the boys dig holes, not just as punishment, but because she is looking for something valuable

For an extra challenge, write a book review of the book you have just finished on Boom Reader. You will earn more gems and you could also earn some ePraise points for a job well done!
